Attributing his success to his eagerness to learn and his biblical foundation, Mr. Smith obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration in economics and business management from Georgia College in 1976. He also underwent leadership development programs at Columbia University and Washington University. He was also involved in a program offered by the United States Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, where they aimed to instill respect for military-trained individuals in business leaders and to provide military-trained individuals with an understanding of future development opportunities after leaving the military.
