Angelo DaShun Lamar, PhD, MBA, Assistant Fire Marshall at City of Memphis Fire Department, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in fire prevention.
With many years of experience to his credit, Dr. Lamar has excelled as the assistant fire marshall with the City of Memphis Fire Department since 2023, a position in which he supervises multiple fire inspectors, battalion chiefs, public educators, assistant public educators and clerical staff members. Prior to this post, he was active with the City of Memphis Fire Department in a number of roles between 1998 and 2023, including as a private, a fire inspector, a training officer and a battalion chief. As a testament to his exceptional achievements during this tenure, Dr. Lamar was recognized as The Fire Prevention Employee of The Year by the City of Memphis Fire Department in 2015.
Before embarking on his professional path, Dr. Lamar pursued an education at Bethel College, earning a Bachelor of Science in organizational management in 2008. He continued his academic efforts with a Master of Business Administration at Bethel University Tennessee in 2010. Dr. Lamar concluded his formal studies at Walden University in 2017, graduating with a Doctor of Philosophy in management with a concentration in leadership and organizational change.
Certified as a fire inspector and fire instructor, Dr. Lamar has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his primary work. He has found much success as a public speaker, offering his wealth of expertise to schools, businesses and fire conferences around the Memphis region. He had likewise contributed to his community as a CPR instructor with the American Heart Association between 2008 and 2022. Moreover, Dr. Lamar has been recruited as an adjunct professor for Southwest Tennessee Community College from 2018 to 2022 and a faculty member with Bethel University since 2011.
Attributing his success to those who pushed him to better himself, Dr. Lamar was inducted to the Golden Key International Honor Society in 2017. Soon thereafter, he was presented with an Award from the Walden University National Society of Leadership and Success in 2019. Among his proudest professional moments, Dr. Lamar fondly recalls establishing a unified training program for Fire and Building Code Officials within the Shelby County area that has successfully been implemented throughout West Tennessee.
