Ms. Canawati has had a diverse and distinguished career working for many prestigious organizations, such as a Lutheran-based Local NGO in Bethlehem, Palestine, for five years, Catholic Relief Services between 20109 and 2019, IMA World Health between 2016 and 2017, Lutheran World Relief/Corus International between 2017 and 2019, and Jhpiego between 2019 and 2020. She currently serves the International Rescue Committee, first as the finance policy and procedures consultant beginning in 2022, and proceeded to advance to the associate director of finance policy and contract readiness. The most enjoyable aspect of her work is getting to work with a variety of people and helping them problem-solve.
Citing her mother, Antoinette Canawati, as her inspiration, Ms. Canawati strives to make her mother proud in every accomplishment, beginning with earning a Bachelor of Business Administration and a minor in marketing from Bethlehem University in Palestine in 1998. She subsequently earned a Master of Arts in regional development, planning, and management from the Universität Dortmund in Germany in 2002. In 2005, she returned to Palestine to earn a second Bachelor of Arts in accounting from the University of Bethlehem. When she is not working, she dedicates her time and attention to sports, working out at the gym, exercising, and playing with her dogs.
