With 15 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Zanders has excelled as director of customer service support at Sammons Financial Group Companies since 2023. He began his career with Wells Fargo for 10 years. He worked as P/C customer service supervisor at Nationwide Insurance from 2008 to 2016 before transitioning to the role of client manager at Bearence Management Group from 2017 to 2018. He garnered a stellar reputation as service delivery assistant manager at ReSource Pro from 2018 to 2020. He contributed at Iowa State University as an insurance and risk analyst III from 2020 to 2022 and at Sammons Financial Group Companies as a manager of internal controls from 2022 to 2023.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Zanders pursued an education at Upper Iowa University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in emergency and disaster management in 2013. He continued his academic efforts at the same, graduating with a Master of Business Administration in business administration and management in 2016. Beyond his responsibilities within the field, he has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. He served as chairman of the board at the North Central Iowa Chapter of the American Red Cross and was a member of the West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce, the West Des Moines Human Rights Commission, and Big Brothers Big Sisters. He donated to the Willkie House Community Center.
In addition to his primary vocation, Mr. Zanders remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise, including as a member of Black MBA. In light of his impressive undertakings, he has accrued several accolades throughout his career. He was presented with the 2019 Gold Service Award by ReSource Pro. He attributes his success to his parents, his mentors, and his children.
Mr. Zanders was in the mortgage industry until 2008, when the industry changed due of the recession. Fortunately, he has always been a people person and was able to transition into employment in the insurance industry. He started at the bottom and with the help of his peers and support of his supervisors, he advanced in the field. His company supported him financially in going back to school and in earning his ungraduated and graduate degrees. In the immediate future, he hopes to continue advancing in his career and ensure his children attend college.
