Ms. Paul is a distinguished professional who has enjoyed a diverse career spanning over five decades. As a young woman, she worked with the John F. Kennedy Presidential Campaign, subsequently serving in the White House as part of Kennedy’s administration. Between 1962 and 1966, she broke ceiling barriers in the federal system division of International Business Machines (IBM). She contributed her expertise to the Planning Research Company for three years and to National Economic Research Associates (NERA) Economic Consulting for two years. In 1971, she co-founded and acted as a general partner to Alon Miller Associates until 2017 and continues to offer her services as a consultant.
Attributing her strong work ethic to the foundations laid during her upbringing, Ms. Paul utilized this asset to earn a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from Manhattanville College in 1960. She additionally obtained a Master of Science in mathematics from Georgetown University. Her trajectory into the information technology (IT) consulting industry evolved organically, stemming from a pivotal realization during her college years as a mathematics major that being an educator did not align with her aspirations. She heeded a compelling suggestion to venture into the realm of technology and joined IBM. It was within this professional landscape that her latent interest in computers ignited, setting the course for a lifelong commitment to the field.
Ms. Paul was engaged in the development of the new museum by the Michael Murphey Western Institute, which is dedicated to celebrating the history and culture of cowboys and Native Americans in the Western United States. She further has assisted the Lantern Theater in Philadephia with computerizing their operations. In 1986, she was recognized as the Entrepreneur of the Year by Manhattanville College.
In 2001, Ms. Paul was formally adopted into the Lakota Indian tribe and bestowed with the name “Hakawai,” meaning “Rocky Mountain Woman.” In the coming years, she intends to pen a book detailing her journey as a woman in the early days of the computer industry. When she is not working, she dedicates her time and attention to the theater, skiing, investing, and horseback riding.
