Rev. Dr. Molly Dale Smith, consultant in transition and congregational developer, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in ministry and creative organization.

With 30 years of experience to her credit, Rev. Dr. Smith has excelled as a consultant in transition and congregational development since 2003. She began her career as an interim rector at All Saints Church from 2003 to 2006 and at St. Peter’s Church from 2006 to 2007. She established herself as a board member at TMEC from 2006 to 2010 and NNECA from 2007 to 2010. At Interim Ministry Network, Inc., she contributed as a board member from 2009 to 2015 and as a faculty member from 2003 to 2023. She established herself as a fresh start facilitator at the Diocese of Tennessee from 2009 to 2017.

Rev. Dr. Smith continued her career at St. David’s Church where she was active as a priest associate from 2009 to 2017. She was active at the General Theological Seminary as a board of trustees member from 2016 to 2023. She has served as an advisory committee member with the Virginia Theological Seminary since 2023.

Before embarking on her professional path, Rev. Dr. Smith pursued an education at Hollins University where she completed coursework. She continued her academic efforts at Emory University and earned a master’s degree in theological studies in 1990. At Seabury Western Theological Seminary, she graduated with a Master of Divinity in 1993. She completed her studies at Saint Paul School of Theology, accruing a Doctor of Ministry in evangelism in 2000. She is an ordained Episcopal priest and credentialed in consultant training in transition, search, and congregational development.

Beyond her responsibilities within the field, Rev. Dr. Smith has participated in numerous endeavors outside of her professional circles. She found success with her written work “Transitional Ministry: A Time of Opportunity” in 2009. In light of her impressive undertakings, she has accrued several accolades throughout her career. She was selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Marquis Who’s Who Industry Leader and Marquis Who’s Who of Professional Women and was featured in the Wall Street Journal and Millennium Magazine.

Rev. Dr. Smith considers being tasked with the complete curriculum rewrite of the Interim Ministry Network, Inc.’s training manual as a highlight in her distinguished career. Having learned through research that adults learn best experientially, she transformed the curriculum from a lecture-driven approach to an experience-focused and case study-based format, providing interactive training for people from different denominations.
