Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Pettibon pursued an education at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in marine engineering in 1993. He continued his academic efforts at the Naval Postgraduate School, obtaining an Executive Master of Business Administration in financial management in 2010. He concluded his studies at the National Defense University, graduating with a Master of Science in national security and resource strategy and financial services industry study in 2013. He holds certifications from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, LinkedIn, NDU-The Eisenhower School, the United States Air Force Air Command and Staff College, and the Naval Postgraduate School. Furthermore, he holds a license as a private pilot.
Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Mr. Pettibon has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. He was on the board of the Loudoun Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the internal affairs committee at the Northern Virginia Science Center and the Military Operations Research Society. In light of his impressive undertakings, he has accrued several accolades throughout his career. He was presented with several awards throughout his military career, including multiple meritorious service medals, a Joint Service Achievement Medal, a Marine Corps Commendation Medal, an Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
