He served as director of fixed income research at Kuhn, Loeb & Co., now Lehman Brothers Inc., from 1977 to 1982. He garnered a stellar reputation as chief executive officer and founder of Ryan Financial Strategy Group from 1982 to 1988 and at Ryan Labs, Inc. from 1988 to 2004.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Ryan pursued an education at Loyola University New Orleans where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration in finance in 1970. He is a chartered financial analyst through the CFA Institute. Beyond his responsibilities within the field, he has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. He found success with his written work “The U.S. Pension Crisis: What We Need to Do Now to Save America’s Pensions” which was published in The Leading Press in 2013.
In addition to his primary vocation, Mr. Ryan remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He was a member of Delta Sigma Pi and Beta Gamma Sigma. In light of his impressive undertakings, he has accrued several accolades throughout his career. He was presented with the IP Best Financial Book Award in 2014, the William F. Sharpe Indexing Lifetime Achievement Award, the MML Lifetime Achievement Award, the Bernstein Fabozzi/Jacobs Levy Award, and the Capital Link Most Innovative Exchange-Traded Fund Award. He was named to the dean’s list at Loyola University New Orleans.
