Nicolas Genest, chief technology officer at GoodwillFinds and president, chief executive officer and founder of CodeBoxx Technology Corporation, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in technology.

Mr. Genest’s illustrious career in the technology sector spans several decades and is characterized by his visionary leadership and pioneering contributions to various organizations in the United States, Canada and France. He is equipped with a diverse educational background that unfolded alongside his professional career. His journey includes coursework in technology and information management from Garneau College in 1999, a Bachelor of Science in business and public administration from the University of Phoenix in 2009, and a business analytics program from Harvard University in 2020.

Having started his career as co-founder and executive partner at Openlinks from 1999 to 2003, immediately after getting his technology management degree, Mr. Genest then served as one of the very first .NET architects in the industry at Accor, Edenred Group, from 2002 to 2004. Subsequently, he worked as a project manager at Pfizer Inc., France, from 2004 to 2005. From 2005 to 2007, he served as a business intelligence and software engineer at Microsoft. This journey of learning from the best in software engineering and in research and development led him to transition into the startup world as director of architecture, quality, and innovation from 2007 to 2011 at Vente-privee.com now known as Veepee.

Mr. Genest’s career trajectory continued with his first executive leadership roles such as chief technology officer (CTO) at Veepee and later at Vente-privee USA in partnership with American Express until 2013. He then served as the first CTO of The RealReal from 2013 to 2016, enabling remarkable growth during his tenure and building the software assets that they would later showcase during their June 2019 IPO on the NASDAQ making it Mr. Genest’s first significant exit. Following this, he held the position of CTO at ModCloth where he orchestrated the rebirth of the digitally native vertical brand alongside Matt Kaness from 2016 to 2018 before joining Walmart through Modcloth’s acquisition. He remained there as the CTO for all their Digitally Native Vertical Brands’ eCommerce, until 2018.

In 2018, Mr. Genest founded CodeBoxx Technology, an academy teaching the ways of technology to individuals from all walks of life where he served as their first Chief executive officer until 2022, concurrently founding and leading Cloud Body Corporation and also serving as its chief executive officer since then. He also co-founded Zelig and served as the startup’s first chief technology officer in 2021 and 2022. He then continued to drive technological innovation and spearhead strategic initiatives, this time in the AgTech field by joining Full Harvest, a revolutionary B2B marketplace for farmers and produce buyers from 2022 to 2024. Presently, he holds the position of chief technology officer at GoodwillFinds, a non-profit marketplace helping the entire Goodwill network and their love brand to transition into the Digital Age through a comprehensive digital transformation. Additionally, he remains actively involved as chief executive officer of Cloud Body in the health and wellness sector spearheading the development of digital twin technology and leveraging his entrepreneurial acumen to lead both companies to new heights.

Reflecting on his success, Mr. Genest attributes it to his ability to quickly adapt his leadership and communication styles to changing contexts and environments. This talent revealed itself as truly useful to get the most out of various teams, fostering collaboration and driving results for the business first and not for the benefit of technology itself which is a trend that gave the industry a rather bad reputation through the years. Looking ahead, Mr. Genest envisions staying true to his belief that the true measure of success is impact by creating a long-lasting influence on society by democratizing the positive use of technology and finding and leveraging the very best in people for the betterment of businesses and communities. His unwavering commitment to purpose-driven innovation and his dedication to empowering individuals in the technology sector underscore his vision for the future.
