Andy Garcia, Audiobook Narrator, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in entertainment.
Ms. Garcia’s educational journey began with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from William Jewell College, setting the stage for her subsequent academic achievements. She then earned a Master of Liberal Arts in Social Science from Baker University, followed by a Master of Arts in Counseling from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
Ms. Garcia’s professional trajectory reflects a commitment to mental health and wellness that spans over a decade. Working in a variety of roles including: Director of Behavioral Health for Greater Kanas City Firefighters IAFF Local 42, Director at a psychiatric hospital, Clinical Supervisor at an outpatient behavioral health organization, Director of Business Development for an addiction recovery company, in addition to working as a therapist in: prison, drug-court, in-home, private practice, and rehab settings.
Ms. Garcia’s entrepreneurial spirit led her to establish Complete Counseling and Wellness in 2012, where she served as owner and therapist until 2019. Concurrently, she ventured into academia, serving as an adjunct professor at Avila University in 2015 and the University of Missouri-Kansas City from 2018 to 2019.
Over the years, Ms. Garcia has contributed to various civic and professional organizations alongside her professional endeavors. She served as a board member for both the Kansas City Behavioral Health Professionals and the American Counseling Association of Missouri. Additionally, she has been involved in the Community Classroom Committee of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and as a Life Support Team for a local radio station.
In 2020, Ms. Garcia embarked on a new chapter in her career as an Audiobook Narrator after recovering from a life-altering car accident that led to her sustaining a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and becoming disabled. Her background in vocal performance and monologue acting, in addition to her unwavering determination and passion for storytelling, has fueled her journey in audiobook narration.
Joining the SAG-AFTRA union marked a significant milestone in Ms. Garcia’s career, in addition to being blessed with opportunities to record audiobooks for top publishers such as: Simon & Schuster, Penguin Random House, Audible, Spotify, Dreamscape, Oasis Audio, etc., in addition to narrating books for award-winning indie authors. Being honored as a Silver Selection winner for the HEAR Now Festival in 2023 was also a crowning achievement.
Looking ahead, Ms. Garcia eagerly anticipates the opportunity to narrate for the remaining Big 5 publishers and continue working with the indie author community. In addition, she hopes to one day be nominated for an Audie Award, despite stiff competition from seasoned narrators. Today, she continues to leverage her diverse skill set and experiences to empower others, advocate for mental health awareness, encourage others in the disability and global DEI community, and inspire positive change through storytelling and advocacy efforts.
