Transitioning seamlessly from his tenure as a U.S. Coast Guard officer, which spanned from 1955 to 1984, Mr. Kirkland made significant contributions in various capacities, including as the facility manager at the Association of Plant Engineers from 1970 to 1974 and as the manager of the electric boat division at General Dynamics from 1985 to 1995. Currently serving as the mayor of the town of River Bend, he also holds positions as a council member and a member of the Water Ways Advisory Board, showcasing his unwavering commitment to public service and community development.
Transitioning into retirement, Mr. Kirkland found a new calling in public service, driven by a desire to give back to his community. He has played a pivotal role in local governance and community development.
