With many years of experience to his credit, Dr. Tejeda initially gained valuable expertise as an Advanced Practice Provider in Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery, then in the medical device industry with SentreHeart, Inc., St. Jude Medical and Medtronic. He continued his career as the global director of research, indication expansion, and sustaining clinical programs for Edwards Lifesciences Corporation. Dr. Tejeda garnered a stellar reputation as an enterprise senior director of clinical research and hospital operations at El Camino Health.
At Salinas Valley Health, Dr. Tejeda was active as chief operating officer of ambulatory services and senior administrative director. He has excelled as the president, chief executive officer, and executive healthcare consultant at Perspective Health Partners since 2023. In this capacity, Dr. Tejeda spearheads nationwide projects across hospital systems, medical groups, small and medium-sized physician practices, health plans, entrepreneurial business entities, and medical device-sector enterprises.
Before embarking on his professional path, Dr. Tejeda pursued an education at Fordham University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Pre-Medicine. He continued his academic efforts at the University of Texas-Pan American, obtaining a master’s degree in physician assistant studies. Certified as a physician assistant by The National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, he accrued a master’s degree in legal studies at Washington University in St. Louis School of Law before concluding his studies at the Medical University of South Carolina, graduating with a doctoral degree in healthcare administration science. Moreover, Dr. Tejeda has completed certifications in health economics through Harvard, as well as a certificate in leadership skills for managers through the University of Texas McCombs School of Business.
Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Dr. Tejeda has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. He contributed to his community as a volunteer catechist at the Elementary Age Faith Formation and as a volunteer with health clinics, health fairs, and wellness programs. He remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise, including the American College of Healthcare Executives, the American Academy of Physician Associates, the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and the American College of Cardiology. He is also a member of the Alpha Eta Honor Society, and the Upsilon Phi Delta Society in Healthcare Management.
Among the highlights of his career, Dr. Tejeda is incredibly proud of eliminating disparities in healthcare delivery, and growing service lines within hospitals and health systems. He attributes his success to his dedication, perseverance, attention to detail, focus, desire to learn, collaboration inside and outside his organizations, and the support of his wife.
