Thomas Anthony DiVecchio, Senior Meteorologist, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in weather forecasting and education.
With 37 years of experience to his credit, Mr. DiVecchio excelled as a senior meteorologist at WJET-TV/WICU-TV/WFXP-TV from 1993 to 2024. He began his career as a weekend meteorologist with WICU/WSEE from 1987 to 1989, WCTI-TV and FOX 8 from 1989 to 1991, and WSEE from 1992 to 1993. As a meteorology instructor, he contributed at the State University of New York Jamestown Community College from 2003 to 2015, Mercyhurst University since 2008, and The Pennsylvania State University Erie, The Behrend College since 2017. He has garnered a stellar reputation as the senior forecaster and owner of Cirrus Weather Services, LLC since 2013.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. DiVecchio pursued an education at The Pennsylvania State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in meteorology in 1984. He has held a broadcast seal certification from the American Meteorological Society since 1996. In addition to his primary vocation, he remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise, such as the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association.
Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Mr. DiVecchio has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. He held the role of lector at Saint John and Holy Rosary and additional Catholic churches. He was a board member of the Autism Society Northwestern Pennsylvania. He donated to blood drives with his community’s blood bank and volunteered with the Knights of Columbus and the Tom Ridge Environmental Center. He contributed as an educator at the Presque Isle Lifeguard Association and supported the Barber National Institute.
In light of his impressive undertakings, Mr. DiVecchio has accrued several accolades throughout his career. He was presented with the Award for Excellence and Dedication to Promoting Weather Education by the Erie Intermediate Unit. The highlight of his career thus far has been serving as a weather forecaster in his hometown of Erie, Pennsylvania, for over 30 years. In the immediate future, he intends to remain in the field and engage in his current activities. He aspires to broaden his horizons by expanding his outreach to other regions, particularly rural areas.
