With over 30 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Vukic has excelled as chief operating officer at Redwood Hospice since 2023. He began his career as a traveling physical therapist with National Medical Enterprises from 1991 to 1992. He worked as a physical therapy supervisor at New York Physical Therapy from 1992 to 1995 before transitioning to the role of clinical specialist at Northern California Physical Therapy from 1995 to 1998. He established himself as the senior regional director for northern California at Physiotherapy Associates from 1998 to 2008. At Contentra, he contributed as the regional director of operations for the Pacific region from 2008 to 2013.
Mr. Vukic continued his career as the general manager and executive director of the San Francisco Bay Region for VITAS Healthcare from 2014 to 2016. He garnered a stellar reputation as senior vice president of operations and patient experience at Kids Care Dental from 2016 to 2019. At AccentCare, he served as the executive director from 2019 to 2022 and the vice president of operations for the southwest region from 2022 to 2023. Concurrently, he has found success as a health care consultant at Sonny Vukic Consulting since 2014.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Vukic pursued an education at Stony Brook University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology in 1989 and a Bachelor of Science in physical therapy in 1991. He continued his academic efforts at Harvard University, pursuing an executive education in leadership and management in 2009. He concluded his studies at Keller Graduate School of Management, graduating with a Master of Business Administration in 2012. He holds a certificate of business excellence, business leadership, and management from the Haas School of Business, University of California Berkeley.
Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Mr. Vukic has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. He contributed as a supporter of women’s and LGBTQ rights organizations. In addition to his primary vocation, he remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He held executive and leadership positions with the American Clinicians Academy on Medical Aid in Dying and the California Hospice and Palliative Care Association. In the immediate future, he intends to continue leading organizations, enhancing services, and grooming larger teams.
