Before joining CAST Inc., Dr. Courchaine held significant roles, including educational program specialist at the U.S. Department of Education from 2015 to 2021, where she played a pivotal role in expanding the definition of accessible materials. She also served as an adjunct professor and distance program coordinator at The George Washington University from 2007 to 2011.

Dr. Courchaine’s academic journey includes a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Saint Mary’s College in 1999, a Master of Arts in curriculum and instruction in 2002, and a Doctorate in Special Education from The George Washington University in 2012. In addition to her professional roles, she is actively involved in industry-related organizations such as the Council of Exceptional Children, the American Educational Research Association, and the Assistive Technology Industry Association.

Throughout her career, Dr. Courchaine has received recognition for her contributions, including an Award of Excellence for Collaboration and Partnerships from the Office of Special Education Programs at the US Department of Education. Looking ahead, she remains committed to identifying effective ways to bring about positive change in education and society. Her goal is to leverage her expertise and leadership to create inclusive environments that benefit all students.
