Connie Balcher Inukai, grandmapreneur and podcast guest at Grandmapreneur®, inventor, founder, and product developer at Tip and Split Solutions LLC, and creator of Write Your Selfie, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in entrepreneurship.

Ms. Inukai, a self-proclaimed “grandmapreneur®,” harnesses her extensive knowledge to inspire retirees and soon-to-be retirees to venture into entrepreneurship during their later years. Her expertise extends beyond entrepreneurial endeavors, as she is also an esteemed author for Entrepreneur Magazine, where she shares insights and experiences from her own entrepreneurial journey. Among her published works are “Retirement: Dream Big, Take Action, Make Money. 10 Amazing Second-Act Entrepreneurs Tell Their Stories,” and “How I Got My Product on QVC, Today Show, The View & More…in Retirement.” These books not only chronicle her personal entrepreneurial achievements but also provide invaluable guidance and inspiration for others looking to embark on similar paths.

One of Ms. Inukai’s notable entrepreneurial ventures is the Tip ‘n Split®, a handheld device designed to assist individuals in reading small print on menus and bills, particularly in dimly lit environments. The device, equipped with a magnifier and a light, not only enhances visibility but also simplifies tasks such as calculating tips and splitting bills, all within a matter of seconds. Additionally, her innovative spirit led her to create Write Your Selfie, a project born out of the COVID-19 pandemic, aimed at helping individuals document their life stories and legacies for future generations in just six simple steps.

Throughout her retirement, Ms. Inukai has been an active advocate for entrepreneurship, sharing her insights and experiences at various presentations and conferences. She has addressed audiences on diverse topics such as reinventing oneself in retirement, the importance of pursuing dreams and passions, and the benefits of entrepreneurship later in life. Notably, she served as a guest speaker for Midlife and Beyond events and participated as a panelist in discussions focusing on second-act entrepreneurship.

Ms. Inukai’s professional journey began with her role as a senior consultant for esteemed institutions such as the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the U.S. Department of Transportation, and the Food and Drug Administration. During this period, she honed her skills in technical writing and education, laying a solid foundation for her future endeavors in entrepreneurship. She further expanded her influence through teaching positions at the University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins University School of Engineering, where she shared her knowledge and expertise with aspiring professionals.

Her academic background is marked by academic excellence, with a bachelor’s degree in French from The Ohio State University and a Master of Arts in linguistics from Columbia University. Additionally, she pursued coursework in business administration and management at New York University, further enhancing her business acumen.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Ms. Inukai remains actively engaged in civic and community initiatives. She is aligned with esteemed organizations such as the Gaithersburg-Germantown Chamber of Commerce, the DC Inventors Group, the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council, and the Women President’s Educational Organization, Inc. She also volunteers her time as a fundraising volunteer for the American Macular Degeneration Foundation, demonstrating her commitment to giving back to her community.

In recognition of her entrepreneurial achievements, Ms. Inukai has been featured in numerous publications and media outlets, including The Beacon Newspaper, various television shows, and podcasts. She received the prestigious Gold Medal for “Best New Gadget” from INPEX, underscoring her innovative contributions to the industry. However, amidst these accolades, she takes particular pride in delivering a TEDx Talk on pursuing dreams and passions during retirement, a testament to her enduring commitment to inspiring others.

Looking ahead, Ms. Inukai remains steadfast in her commitment to entrepreneurship and advocacy for retirees. She envisions continuing to fulfill her dreams while empowering others to do the same, undeterred by age or perceived limitations.
