Title: Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer
Company: EVRCOOL
Location: Battle Creek, Michigan, United States
Joshua L. Roby, co-founder and chief technology officer at EVRCOOL, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the temperature-control industry.
With 30 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Roby has excelled as co-founder and chief technology officer of EVRCOOL since 2023. His responsibilities include engaging with the mechanical and electrical design process, sourcing materials for the necessary components, facilitating the company’s supply chain, interfacing with vendors, handling price negotiations, overseeing the Knoxville operations team, and developing the corporate and product strategy. He worked with Amway, Dimplex Thermal Solutions, and the thermal management division of BorgWarner, Inc. from 1994 and 1999 and 2005 to 2011.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Roby pursued an education at Kettering University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He concluded his studies at Virginia Commonwealth University, graduating with a master’s degree. In light of his impressive undertakings, he has accrued several accolades throughout his career. He holds multiple patents in chiller innovations.
Mr. Roby was raised on a farm in northern Michigan and quickly discerned that he would pursue a different field than the one his family chose. He considers his contributions to BorgWarner Inc. to be instrumental in his professional path. Having accrued a vast body of experience in his industry, he identified specific customer challenges as well as creative opportunities to remedy those challenges. At his initiation, an innovation group was created within the company to focus on these matters. Over the proceeding decade, the team filed 15 technology patents and established themselves at the top of their field.
Throughout Mr. Roby’s decades of experience in the temperature-control industry, he has made frequent and substantial contributions, including establishing methods and practices to enhance efficiency. The combination of his expertise and the relatively low number of contributors in the field provided many opportunities for him to excel and establish industry-impacting advancements. This includes innovative features for process chillers, which provoked disruption throughout the industry. Intending to maximize his industry impact and professional successes, he co-founded a tech startup with three of his contemporaries founded on the principles of trust, family, innovation, environmental stewardship, passion, and technological and engineering excellence.
Mr. Roby seeks to expand EVRCOOL’s yearly revenue to $50 million. In the long term, he hopes to form a research-based company focused on addressing fundamental issues and improving customers’ overall quality of life. He and his team will endeavor to attain venture capital funding to invest in technologies for which they have already acquired intellectual property rights. They believe they will be taking their innovative products to market in 2027, at which time they will significantly disrupt the market with their unique offerings and low price points.
In the immediate future, Mr. Roby intends to continue his work in application-focused electronics development. Moreover, he and his wife will seek out additional mentoring and public speaking opportunities on leadership and personal development while making time to travel with their son and three daughters.
