Alejandro Reyes, MSc, self-employed consultant, writer, and human resources venture advisor, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in human resources.
With nearly three decades of experience in the field of human resources (HR) and organizational development, Mr. Reyes has established a distinguished career marked by significant achievements and leadership roles. He is currently self-employed, excelling as an HR venture advisor since 2023. In this role, he leverages his extensive expertise to provide strategic HR guidance and support. Prior to this position, he served as the senior vice president and chief people officer at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt from 2017 to 2023. From 2015 to 2017, he held the role of chief talent and organization development officer at Laureate International Universities Inc. and served as vice president of organization and talent development at the same institution from 2011 to 2017.
Mr. Reyes’ career also includes pivotal roles at Dell, where he was the director of organization development and talent from 2010 to 2011 and the director of learning and development from 2006 to 2010. His earlier career highlights include serving as the director of leadership development at Motorola Inc. from 2000 to 2006. Prior to immigrating to the United States in 2000, he served as the director of development at Tec de Monterrey in Mexico from 1990 to 1998. Before embarking on his professional journey, he built a strong educational background. He earned a master’s degree in manufacturing systems, robotics, and automation from Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico in 1992. Additionally, he holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Metropolitan Autonomous University in Mexico.
Mr. Reyes attributes his success to his dedication to engineering, his passion for human development, and an early recognition that achieving success was his only option. A significant highlight of his career occurred during his tenure at Dell when the company transitioned from online-only sales to retail and enterprise sales. He played a pivotal role in this transformation, responsible for instilling this new mindset in 100,000 employees worldwide. Looking ahead, he aims to publish his book and to be involved in a university leadership program to train and mentor younger generations. Additionally, he aspires to continue to share his expertise and drive success in multiple arenas.
