Richard J. With 20 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Wilcox has carved out a distinguished career in financial services. Having been associated with Southern Bank and Trust Company for over a decade, where he currently excels as a financial advisor, investment executive, and assistant vice president, roles he has held since 2022. Additionally, he has served as a retirement counselor and financial planner at Osaic since 2021. Prior to these roles, he held several other positions with Southern Bank and Trust Company, such as an investment services specialist from 2021 to 2022 and a teller supervisor from 2013 to 2020. Additionally, he held an impressive tenure as a manager at Mud Lake Financial Partners from 2003 to 2013.
In addition to these roles, Mr. Wilcox worked as a branch operations manager for the Bank of the Commonwealth in 2007, an income tax preparer at Dan Hargrave, CPA, in 2007, income tax preparer with Liberty Tax Service in 2007, president, manager, and co-founder of Maplewood Properties LLP from 1998 to 2001, manager and co-founder of R.J.K. &M. Investments from 1987 to 2000, and office manager at D & D Fiberglass Bodies, Inc. from 1999 to 2000. Before his tenure with Southern Bank and Trust Company, Dr. Wilcox was a full-time pastor for 22 years. In 2013, he switched from ministry to banking while continuing to serve as a pastor part-time. In addition to his professional life, he has a passion for genealogy. This passion led him to write a book on the topic entitled, “Searching for James Gibson: Unraveling a Two-Century-Old Family Legend,” which he is in the process of getting published.
Before embarking on his professional path, Dr. Wilcox pursued an education at Minnesota State University Moorhead, earning a Bachelor of Science in finance. He then earned a Master of Divination from the Methodist Theological School and a Doctor of Ministry in church leadership from the same institution in 2018. Additionally, he is a certified financial planner and certified retirement counselor. Looking ahead, he aims to increase his revenue production in the next five years. He wants to continue serving as a pastor with Somerton Friends Meeting, an active Christian congregation affiliated with the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). Additionally, he plans to publish another book in the history or historical fiction genre.
