He also worked as a graduate student instructor at Southern Illinois University from 2014 to 2017. Before immigrating to the US, he served as a lecturer of economics at the College of Business and Economics, Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia from 2007 to 2014, and as an international banking officer at Wegagen Bank S.C. in Ethiopia, from 2004 to 2005.
Before embarking on his professional path, Dr. Jemberie pursued an education at Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia, earning a bachelor’s degree in economics in 2003, followed by a master’s degree in economics specializing in economic policy analysis in 2007 from the same institution. He furthered his studies by earning two Master of Arts in the economics of international trade and European integration from Staffordshire University and UAntwerpen in 2010. He concluded his studies with a PhD in economics from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 2017. In addition, he is affiliated with various organizations, such as the American Bankers Association, the American Economic Association, and the Ethiopian Economics Association.
Standout highlights in Dr. Jemberie’s journey include completing the rigorous four-year doctoral program in economics at Southern Illinois University within three years and being awarded the prestigious European Union Erasmus Mundus Scholarship. He attributes his success to his father, who instilled in him the value of education and provided constant guidance and motivation. Being the youngest in a family of outstanding students, he was driven to excel and fostered a competitive spirit.
