James I. Vosler, Col. (Ret.), PE, program manager at Akima LLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in organizational management and engineering.
With over four decades of experience, Mr. Vosler has built a distinguished career in organizational management and engineering, currently excelling as a program manager at Akima Support Operations at MacDill Air Force Base, a role he has held since 2023. In this position, he oversees plans, programs, designs, construction, operations, and maintenance of base facilities. Additionally, he provides fire protection, explosive ordnance disposal, emergency management, and environmental services for the 6th Air Mobility Wing, the United States Central Command, the United States Special Operations Command, and other MacDill tenants. Before his current role, he was the founder and president of Vosler & Associates LLC from 2019 to 2023, general manager at IAP Worldwide Services from 2018 to 2019, and Afghanistan theater engineer director at CACI Federal in Bagram, Afghanistan, from 2012 to 2013. From 2007 to 2018, he was a senior program manager at PAE Design and Facility Management at MacDill Air Force Base. He also worked as vice president and senior program manager at Versar Global Solutions, previously Versar Inc. in Baghdad, Iraq, from 2007 to 2011, and served as a professor at the United States Military Academy from 1985 to 1989.
Mr. Vosler served as a colonel in the United States Army for 27 years. His military career includes serving as director of strategic communications at U.S. Central Command at MacDill Air Force Base from 2003 to 2007, colonel of the 555th Combat Engineer Group in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from 2001 to 2003, and executive director of military programs at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from 2000 to 2001. A standout moment in his military career was leading a combat engineering brigade of 3,600 engineers during Operation Iraqi Freedom, where they were deployed in the city triangle to provide combat service support and repair all the water treatment plants for the Iraqi people. Laying a solid foundation for his future success, he earned a Bachelor of Science in agricultural engineering with a minor in civil engineering from Washington State University in 1979. He obtained a Master of Business Administration in management from LIU Post, Long Island University, in 1988, and a Master of Science in strategic studies from the United States Army War College in 2000. He also completed his professional civil engineer license in Virginia in 1988 and in Florida in 2007.
In addition to his primary vocation, Mr. Vosler has maintained his involvement as a member of the Policy and Transportation Committee of the Tampa Bay Chamber of Commerce since 2006. He has also served as a wrestling coach at Newsome High School from 2000 to 2006, and at Lakes High School in Washington. Additionally, he is a member of the Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce. In light of his impressive undertakings, he was recognized with the Defense Superior Service Medal, two Legion of Merit Awards, five Meritorious Service Medals, and the Bronze Service Medal, all from the United States Army. Additionally, he was inducted into the Delta Mu Delta International Honors Society and the National Honor Society in Business Administration. He was also honored as a Distinguished Military Graduate and Distinguished Military Scholar at Washington State University. When giving advice to aspiring professionals, he emphasizes the importance of leadership, dedication, and community service. He believes in the power of mentoring and coaching to help others achieve exceptional results. Looking ahead, his goal is to transition into political leadership. He sees a dire need for individuals who serve the country selflessly.
