James Norman, vice president of technology at ABOUT Healthcare, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in health care.

With over two decades of experience in health and information technology, Mr. Norman excels in product strategy and client-facing operations. Currently serving as president of technology at ABOUT Healthcare since 2023, he handles acquisitions, manages infrastructure and software engineering, and oversees the software development life cycle, product roadmap, and solution design. He is heavily involved in client relations, serving as the executive sponsor for the company’s largest clients and ensuring their feedback is integrated into product development. Prior to this role, he was chief technology officer at Solve.Care from 2022 to 2023, chief technology officer and vice president of engineering at eHealth Technologies from 2021 to 2022, vice president of information technology and senior director of software engineering at UnitedHealth Group from 2016 to 2021, director of software engineering at UnitedHealth Group from 2010 to 2016, managing consultant at UnitedHealth Group from 2006 to 2010, technology consultant at ING from 2004 to 2006, and account manager at The Hartford from 2003 to 2004.

He has also contributed to the industry through his role in creative works, including “Custom Software Solutions,” “Machine Learning Model, Prior Authorization Recommendation & Bundling,” “Machine Learning Model, Automation,” and “Commercial Clinical Software.” In addition, Mr. Normal is a donor to Kids Against Hunger with Freedom Foods, Friends of the Boundary Waters Wilderness, United Way of Central Minnesota, and The American National Red Cross, and volunteers his time at Tree Trust and Kids Without Hunger. In light of his impressive undertakings, he was awarded the Enterprise Transformation Award at the Web3 in Healthcare Conference, the Care on Enterprise Transformation Award, and named Vanguard of Agile for Enterprise. Creating a solid foundation for these accomplishments, he earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration and management from Bethel University in 2002, followed by a Master of Science in software engineering in 2010.

Reflecting on his career, Mr. Norman takes pride in his involvement in initiating a program where he personally selected a team to transform a large monolithic system into a flexible software-as-a-service (SaaS) program. In only six months, the team developed a new system and restructured the SaaS platform. After deploying the system in London and successfully piloting it with a small user group, they quickly expanded, selling it to seven clients within a year, both domestically and internationally. Subsequently, they significantly scaled the system, hiring additional staff to enhance it beyond its original version. He attributes his success to strong mentorship, being open to critical feedback, and continuously building his skillset. Looking ahead, he sees himself remaining in his current role and potentially leading SAS health care center as chief executive officer.
