He began his career soon thereafter as a research associate at Kahn Laboratories from 2002 to 2005 before accepting the position of a laboratory manager at the Reeves Research Laboratory from 2005 to 2007. Mr. Maloney eventually concluded his academic efforts at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University in 2009, graduating with a Master of Business Administration with a double major in finance and strategic management.

Uniquely positioned to bridge the gap between research and commercialization, Mr. Maloney worked as a business analyst at Pfizer from 2009 to 2011. This experience was pivotal in shaping his strategic and operational acumen, which he further honed as a manager at Human Genome Sciences from 2011 to 2012 and as a senior operations and strategy manager at LivingSocial from 2012 to 2013. Between 2013 and 2020, he co-founded Seed Worthy, where he served as the chief executive officer until 2020. Under his leadership, the company developed BowTie.io, an innovative product that gained significant traction in the market. Concurrently, Mr. Maloney held the role of vice president of strategy and operations at @Pay, showcasing his ability to manage multiple high-stakes roles simultaneously. 

Mr. Maloney found further success as the chief innovator and innovator-in-residence at Arrowhead Center Incubator from 2013 to 2021, mentoring startups and fostering innovation. During this time, he was likewise active as a trustee at Washington State University from 2016 to 2021 and a member of the board of directors at the Kelley School of Business at  Indiana University from 2019 to 2022. Since 2020, he has been recruited as a board member at multiple institutions, including Rewire Neuro, CSHQA, and Life Science Washington. His advisory roles with companies like BioSapien and KeraVet Bio, and his position as general partner at The Augmented Fund since 2022, additionally illustrate his influence in the biotech and life sciences sectors.

In addition to his professional commitments, Mr. Maloney is deeply involved in civic and educational initiatives. His contributions as a speaker and panelist at numerous conferences, including the Global Innovation Network for Entrepreneurship and Technology, reflect his dedication to knowledge sharing and community engagement. He was also notably appointed as an event emcee for the National Institutes of Health.
