With over a decade of experience to his credit, Mr. Patel has excelled in the field of finance, specializing in nonprofit and financial administration, financial statement reporting, governmental fund accounting, endowment accounting, and audited advisory practices. He currently excels as a global resources strategy lead at Accenture, a role he has held since 2023. In this capacity, he serves as an expert in building accounting software for institutions with a focus on banking automation, creates connectors between banking firms and other institutions, and drives automation and accounting recordkeeping. Prior to this role, he worked as a level-two workday financials consultant at TopBloc LLC from 2022 to 2023, a workday financial solution analyst at Deloitte Consulting in 2022, a workday analyst at HCMpoint from 2021 to 2022, and a finance and operations manager at Edible Schoolyard NYC in 2021. His earlier roles include accounting associate at Simons Foundation from 2019 to 2020 and at Kiwi Partners in 2018, semi-senior auditor at Marks Paneth LLP from 2015 to 2017, and tax associate at Frank, Rimerman + Co. LLP from 2013 to 2014.

Prior to these accomplishments, he pursued an education at Baruch College, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in 2012, followed by a Master of Science in Taxation from the same institution in 2013. That same year, he went on to earn certification as a certified public accountant. He has also maintained memberships with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy Inc. and was a past member of the Golden Key International Honor Society at Baruch College and the Sierra Club. Civically, he volunteers his time with the Jamaica Bay Marsh and Shoreline Cleanup with The Nature Conservancy and is a strong advocate for the Free Lunch Movement, which provides access to healthy food for children in public schools.

Reflecting on his career, Mr. Patel has been deeply driven by the idea of food security. Growing up in Queens, he witnessed firsthand how some communities lacked access to basic necessities, including food. This experience led him to examine people’s lifestyles more closely. His decision to pursue accounting as a profession was also driven by his unwavering belief in the values of ethics, oversight, transparency, and accountability. He recognized the critical role that these principles play in ensuring the integrity of financial reporting and decision-making and has been committed to upholding them throughout his career. Additionally, he takes pride in his efforts to automate functions within his company, which helps him shape and support food systems. In light of his impressive undertakings, he has received various awards and accolades throughout his career, including being awarded the Yeshiva Full Scholarship, participating in the Macaulay Honors Program at Baruch College, and receiving the National Advanced Regents Honor.

Mr. Patel attributes his success to his unwavering work ethic, commitment to ethical principles, and determination to keep his head down and put in the work. He has adopted the “keep grinding” mentality, which has helped him achieve his goals and create positive outcomes. He is passionate about using his success to help those who lack access to resources and is eager to make a difference in the lives of individuals and communities.

Looking to the future, Mr. Patel hopes to help build an Accenture office in New York, training aspiring business analysts and facilitating the transition of people back into a physical office space. He strongly believes in fostering a sense of community and sharing among individuals and aims to contribute to developing competent and ethical certified public accountants. In addition to his career aspirations, he is also passionate about connecting the concept of food equity with sustainable agriculture and creating ongoing access to food education. His ultimate goal is to ensure everyone has access to quality food, regardless of their background or circumstances.

In advising those who wish to enter the field, Mr. Patel emphasizes the continued importance of accounting as a lucrative and necessary profession that requires human involvement. He highlights the crucial role of accuracy, attention to detail, and ethical behavior in accounting across various industries. He also emphasizes the importance of core values, avoiding complacency, and diligently completing tasks.
