Title: Principal
Company: Azzardami LLC
Location: Alexandria, Virginia, United States

John Scalia Jr., principal at Azzardami LLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in consulting services.

With three and a half decades of experience to his credit, Mr. Scalia has excelled in the field of consulting services. He currently serves as the principal of Azzardami LLC, a role he has held since 2024. His duties encompass providing management consulting services, including financial operations and strategic investments, to three key sectors – correctional services, financial services related to government operations, and investment consultancy, specializing in publicly held corrections companies such as CoreCivic and GEO Group. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a statistician and chief of business integration for the prisoner operations division of the United States Marshals Service from 2020 to 2024, statistician and chief of forecasting and analysis at the same company from 2012 to 2020, chief statistician for the Office of the Federal Detention Trustee with the US Department of Justice from 2002 to 2012, statistician for the Bureau of Justice Statistics with the U.S. Department of Justice from 1995 to 2002, research associate for the U.S. Sentencing Commission from 1990 to 1995, and research assistant at Koba Associates Inc.

Mr. Scalia takes pride in his significant contributions to the Marshals Service, particularly in developing population projections and cost models that became trusted tools used by the Department of Justice, the Office of Management and Budget, and Congress. One of his notable achievements occurred at the Trustee’s Office, where he devised pricing models for per diems paid by the Marshals Service for non-federal detention space, primarily from state and local governments. His efforts were recognized with an award in 2017 and inclusion in the Federal 100 list. This model saved the federal government approximately $200 million over seven years, enabling grants specialists to negotiate and reduce rates by an average of 10%. In light of his impressive undertakings, he also received the Distinguished Group Award from the United States Marshals Service in 2021 and 2022 and the Meritorious Service Award from the United States Marshals Service in 2021. Laying a solid foundation for his career, he pursued an education at The George Washington University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in sociology and psychology and a minor in art history in 1989. He went on to earn a Master of Science in forensic sciences and forensic toxicology from the same institution in 1992.

Mr. Scalia attributes his success to his commitment to providing policymakers with the best available information for making laws, policies, and funding decisions. He strives to ensure that all the information presented is credible, accurate, and reliable so policymakers can confidently make informed decisions. Looking ahead, he hopes to continue contributing to the success of the companies he works for and drive profitability.
