John H. Moyer IV, executive director at WayForward House, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in nonprofit marketing.
After more than 40 years of leadership in the health care industry, Mr. Moyer retired from his position as a consultant at Penn State Health’s Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in 2021. Now he is focused on his nonprofit endeavors through WayForward House, an organization he founded in 2022 and where he currently serves as the executive director. At WayForward House, Mr. Moyer provides aid to foster children by helping them learn new skills, navigate college and find employment opportunities. Before retiring from his primary vocation, he took on such roles as director of clinical simulation for Penn State Health, chief executive officer for Agristar Farms, and vice president of planning and marketing for Pinnacle Health Inc. He began his professional life as a teaching fellow at the University of Pennsylvania’s The Wharton School.
Mr. Moyer’s success in health care and his nonprofit work have both been anchored by a strong academic foundation. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in chemistry at Lebanon Valley College. Subsequently, Mr. Moyer earned a Master of Business Administration from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1980. Not long after his education, he played an essential part in the creation of the first urgent care center in the eastern United States, which became the first of many meaningful contributions he made throughout each of his jobs. Mr. Moyer attributes his achievements to passion, hard work and the pride he takes in what he does.
Outside of his nonprofit work, Mr. Moyer has filled his retirement with participation in the Hershey Rotary Club. He also enjoys spending time on his family farm in Hershey, Pennsylvania, which has been passed down in his family for six generations. Though Mr. Moyer remains retired and committed to WayForward House, he is also exploring sharing his expertise in health care through consulting work.
