Michael Shelby, chief executive officer at Shelby Accounting Services and senior accountant at DroneUp, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in accounting.
With nearly 15 years of accounting experience, Mr. Shelby runs his own firm as the chief executive officer of Shelby Accounting, founded in 2021. Additionally, he serves as a senior accountant at DroneUp, a drone delivery service currently partnered with Walmart. In both of these roles, Mr. Shelby aids his clients in handling regulatory compliance, tax filings, bookkeeping and more. Prior to opening Shelby Accounting, he held the position of staff accountant at Brunke & Company LLC, Vining Sparks and IBC Manufacturing Company. Mr. Shelby has also published multiple books on real estate investment and tax planning. His most recent book, “Mastering E-Commerce Bookkeeping: A Comprehensive Guide for Small Business Owners,” was released in 2024.
Before embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Shelby built a strong academic foundation to guide him. He obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration in banking and finance from Mississippi State University in 2004. Subsequently, Mr. Shelby earned a master’s degree in accounting from Purdue University in 2014. He was certified in cannabis accounting and regulatory compliance from the Dope Chief Financial Officer Cannabis Accounting Training Program in 2021. Mr. Shelby has also completed certifications in LeanLaw Accounting and QuickBooks Advanced. He believes his success is largely due to his strong work ethic and dedication, which drive him to work long hours in pursuit of his goals.
Beyond his career, Mr. Shelby is a devoted husband and father to five children. When he’s not working, he enjoys going to the beach, playing chess, watching TV shows and movies, and reading, especially when he can share these activities with his family. As Shelby Accounting approaches its third anniversary, Mr. Shelby is looking towards future growth for his company, with the aim of eventually establishing a storefront location. He hopes to reach an annual revenue of $750,000 to $1 million and intends to launch a real estate company in the near future as well.
