With over three decades of experience to his credit, Mr. Yin has established a successful career in law enforcement, security, and corrections, specializing in personnel, pricing, training, and expectations. He currently excels as the director of security and life safety at Paramount Group, a position he has held since 2022, and as an adjunct professor at the City College of San Francisco, a role he has notably held since 1999. His experience also includes serving as acting chief at City College of San Francisco from 2019 to 2020, adjunct faculty at LSU National Center for Biomedical Research and Training from 2020 to 2023, and regional program manager for the Bay Urban Area Security Initiative from 2021 to 2022. He has held roles such as commanding officer and crisis manager for the Urban Area Security Initiative, Special Operations Bureau at the San Francisco Police Department from 2019 to 2021, police captain and attorney at the San Francisco Police Department from 2017 to 2021, and police lieutenant and attorney at the same department from 2010 to 2021. Mr. Yin has also contributed as an author, with works including “Manipulative Holographic Communications” in Police1 Magazine, “Continuous Professional Training for Police Service Aides,” “Law Enforcement Report Writing” at City College of San Francisco, “Organized Crime Investigation,” and “Law Enforcement in the Asian-American Community.” Additionally, he has held memberships with Lawyers of Distinction since 1994, the California Bar Association, the California Police Chiefs Association, the National Asian Peace Officers Association, the Northern California Asian Peace Officers Association, the San Francisco Police Officers Association, and the San Francisco Asian Peace Officers Association. He is also the attorney of record for the Chinatown Community Youth Center of San Francisco. In light of his impressive undertakings, he has been honored twice with the Lifesaving Award and three times with the Police Commendation Award, as well as the Meritorious Service Award, and the National Defense Service Medal.
Reflecting on his path, Mr. Yin laid a solid educational foundation, earning a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Berkeley, a Master of Arts from the University of San Francisco, a Master of Science in adult education from San Francisco State University in 1996, and a Juris Doctor from UCLA School of Law. He is a licensed attorney with the State Bar of California, a POST master instructor, and a certified Institute of Criminal Investigations instructor. Reflecting on his path, he was pivotal as the lead security liaison for Google Mix 17 and 18, managing an extensive event with 20,000 attendees, overseeing 48 police squads daily, and orchestrating intense ramp build-ups. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, he played a crucial role as the health and safety officer for the city-wide command, ensuring rigorous enforcement of mask-wearing. Significantly, he founded the Philippine Education and Training Program, which annually delivers training and relief goods in the Philippines, awards close to $40,000 in scholarships to deserving Filipino students, and facilitates the transportation of 46 shipping containers of relief goods. He attributes his success to his commitment to lifelong learning, and his unwavering persistence has been pivotal to his success. In the coming years, he is embarking on a transition from military service to the private sector, eager to explore exciting opportunities in the civilian workspace.
