In these roles, her responsibilities include interacting with customers, collaborating with leadership on strategic direction, leading a team of product managers, providing direction in meetings, reviewing with quality engineers and deployment engineers, discussing software licensing budgets, and overseeing manufacturing IT and plant components, such as engines, transmissions, software, and batteries used in vehicles.

Ms. Sampson’s experience also includes serving with General Motors as director of quality engineering and observability from 2020 to 2023, IT senior development manager from 2015 to 2020, and IT senior QA manager from 2013 to 2015. She worked at Dell as program manager from 2012 to 2013, IT manager from 2009 to 2012, test strategist from 2008 to 2010, global test lead from 2004 to 2008, and IT test analyst from 2002 to 2004. Additionally, she has dedicated her time as a team manager and robotics coach for FIRST LEGO League UAE since 2023, a mentor for TechWomen since 2022, and a team manager for Destination Imagination from 2018 to 2020. She holds a patent for AI technology related to tree health and health care.

Mrs. Sampson built a strong educational foundation, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, cum laude, from Fudan University in Shanghai, China. She furthered her academic credentials with a Bachelor of Arts in management information systems and finance from the University of Houston, followed by a Master of Business Administration from the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin in 2008. Her professional development continued with certifications in Leading with Impact and Executive Leadership from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan, the Harvard Business Analytics Program at Harvard University, and the Women in Leadership program from Irvine Technology Corporation.

Mrs. Sampson takes great pride in her significant impact on the field of observability, a cutting-edge technology. She has successfully adapted observability, typically associated with software, to enhance factory operations, leading to the creation of innovative products. She attributes her success to her strong desire for continuous learning and intellectual curiosity. Her remarkable perseverance is also notable, especially in overcoming challenges such as her family background, financial difficulties, and the hardships she faced as a first-generation immigrant in China. Her tenacity and resilience were evident during her 10 years of living independently in the United States before getting married, navigating numerous obstacles with determination.

In the coming years, Ms. Sampson aims to focus on both personal and professional growth. She envisions expanding her responsibilities within her current role and is actively planning for her post-retirement career. Specifically, she plans to establish a career coaching business and pursue teaching opportunities at business schools. She has been invited to speak at numerous conferences in Asia, the US, and the UK, and is currently working with organizers to finalize the agenda and topics for her presentations. Additionally, she is dedicated to growing her startup, Green Vita, which focuses on AI solutions for tree health. She also looks forward to spending quality time with her children.
