Evan E.C. Speece, Chief Financial Officer at Doral Renewables LLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in finance and renewable energy.

Born into a family that valued both environmental stewardship and education, Mr. Speece was influenced greatly by his parents, as his father worked as an environmental lawyer and his mother broke barriers as a teacher and departmental leader at a time when few women held such roles in the workforce. Shaping his personal and professional development, he subsequently pursued an education at Boston College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in finance and accounting in 2009. During his time as an undergraduate, he gained valuable hands-on experience as an intern at the Reinvestment Fund in 2008, a formative step that deepened his understanding of capital-intensive industries.

Upon graduation, Mr. Speece immediately secured a position as an associate at Andersen Tax LLC from 2009 to 2011. In this position, he refined his essential skills in accounting and finance, two disciplines that would form the backbone of his professional ventures. With Andersen Tax LLC, Mr. Speece advanced to senior associate posts in 2011 and 2012 before relocating to the Greater Philadelphia Area..

From 2012 to 2013, Mr. Speece served as a senior associate with Ernst & Young, now known as EY, one of the “Big Four” accounting firms where he further honed his skills in corporate finance and complex financial transactions. Recognizing the growing importance of renewable energy and sustainability in the global economy, he decided to return to academia to specialize in this emerging field. In 2015, he graduated from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business with a Master of Business Administration in energy finance, with honors. Mr. Speece simultaneously interned at Strata Solar, LLC in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, in 2014.

Soon thereafter, Mr. Speece joined Clearway Energy Group LLC, a large publicly traded renewable energy company, as a senior financial analyst. Over the next five years, he steadily rose through the ranks at Clearway, finding success as a manager of finance and strategy from 2016 to 2018, the director of finance and strategy from 2018 to 2020, and the vice president of finance and head of capital markets in 2020. During his time at Clearway, Mr. Speece played a key role in driving the company’s capital markets strategy and executing complex financial deals that garnered the company several Deal of the Year Awards.

Since 2021, Mr. Speece has excelled with Doral Renewables LLC as their chief financial officer, handling a wide range of responsibilities in corporate and project financing, treasury management, and accounting. Based in Philadelphia, Doral Renewables was established as a joint venture with Doral Group Renewable Energy. One of his key objectives is preparing the company for an initial public offering (IPO), which is slated for the first quarter of 2025. Mr. Speece’s leadership has been instrumental in positioning Doral Renewables as an emerging leader in the renewable energy space.

A key aspect of Mr. Speece’s work at Doral Renewables involves building strong partnerships with farmers, who are essential to a number of the company’s renewable energy projects. By helping farmers secure a stable and meaningful income through renewable energy projects, Doral Renewables has made a positive impact on local communities, an achievement that aligns with his personal values and goals. He is deeply committed to the idea of leaving the world a better place for future generations, driven by the belief that renewable energy plays a crucial role in combating climate change.

In addition to his professional achievements, Mr. Speece has remained active in civic engagement. From 2012 to 2018, he was recruited as a board member of The Young Variety Club of Philadelphia. Likewise, he is currently a board member of Liberty Lutheran Services. He has also offered his time and resources as a volunteer creek watcher for Wissahickon Trails.

Looking toward the future, Mr. Speece aims to expand Doral Renewables into a leading company by building a best-in-class team and fostering a company culture that inspires employees and reflects the company’s commitment to sustainability. He attributes much of his success to the support of his family, mentors, and his own persistence and hard work. For Mr. Speece, the opportunity to lead, grow, and make a positive impact in the renewable energy industry remains a source of great pride and motivation.
