With a decade and a half of experience, Ms. Harb has built a distinguished career in risk management. She currently excels as senior vice president of enterprise risk management at Citigroup Inc., a position she has held since 2022. Her responsibilities include creating procedures documents for the team, tracking risks, conducting stress testing by collaborating with various business lines such as retail, banking, and trading, preparing for plausible events, and mentoring interns and college students. Her previous roles include vice president of risk management at Canaccord Genuity, global capital markets from 2016 to 2022, senior associate at Canaccord Genuity from 2014 to 2016, prime brokerage client service specialist at J.P. Morgan from 2010 to 2014, GWM operations associate at Citigroup Inc. from 2007 to 2010, and equity middle office and equity trade support intern at Citi in 2006. She has also dedicated her time as a mentor and coach at America Needs You.
Laying a solid educational foundation, Ms. Harb earned a Master of Business Administration in corporate finance, banking, financial instruments and markets from the Stern School of Business at New York University in 2013. She also holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance and investments from the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College and a bachelor’s degree in finance and investment from Macaulay Honors College at the City University of New York, both received in 2007. Additionally, she is a Chartered Financial Analyst Level II Candidate with the CFA Institute and has passed the Series 7 examination with FINRA.
Reflecting on her path, Ms. Harb started as an intern at Citigroup, working in the operations department of the Smith Barney Division, which was sold during the 2008 financial crisis. She then moved to J.P. Morgan, where she spent over four years focusing on client relations in the prime brokerage business, handling hedge funds and broker deals. One of her key clients, Canaccord Genuity, a Canadian broker-dealer, offered her a role at their firm. At Canaccord Genuity, she began by supporting a trading desk and eventually moved into a risk management role, overseeing trading desk operations for eight years. This experience allowed her to build many risk management frameworks from the ground up. Looking for new challenges, she transitioned to Citigroup’s enterprise risk management team, which was being restructured to provide comprehensive oversight across the entire bank, replacing the previous siloed approach.
Ms. Harb takes great pride in her proactive approach to discovering her passion and creating opportunities throughout her career. With a solid network of mentors providing advice and inspiration, she attributes her success to her perseverance and passion, which help her overcome challenges and drive her to never give up. In the coming years, she is keen on focusing on people management, mentoring, and proactive leadership roles. She is also open to exploring opportunities beyond risk management and aims to stay ahead of industry trends, keeping abreast of developments and planning for future opportunities aligned with her interests.
