He is also the founder of DiaSys Corp., has held the position of vice president at Oracle, worked as an attorney with the City Prosecutor’s Office in Connecticut, and served as an arbitrator with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Connecticut Bar Association, and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority. He also dedicates his time to pro bono community work and holds five U.S. patents in health care. Additionally, he has been featured in Financial Services Magazine. Laying a solid educational foundation, he earned a bachelor’s degree in economics, history, and political science from Sacred Heart University, graduating summa cum laude in 1979, and a Juris Doctor from Quinnipiac University, graduating with distinction in 1982. He also holds Series 7, 24, 63, 79, and 99 certifications from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority.
Mr. DeMatteo takes great pride in the positive impact he has made on the hundreds of people he has had the privilege to work with over the years. He still receives thank-you emails and cards from former employees dating back 20 to 30 years, which he considers one of the most rewarding aspects of his career. He believes that starting his career as a lawyer gave him an invaluable foundation for the type of business he is in today, and he emphasizes the importance of legal discipline, as it forces you to thoroughly analyze issues, avoid taking the first convenient solution, and find the right answer through thoughtful consideration and planning. He attributes his success to making good decisions and quickly identifying bad ones, allowing him to isolate and address them early on, and he believes that what sets him apart in the field is the unique combination of his legal background, corporate finance expertise, international business experience, and his leadership in running a company. Looking ahead, he plans to continue scaling Bankers Capital International and its sister companies. He envisions finding the right large financial services partner, likely an international firm, to help facilitate further growth. He also anticipates living in a different country in the future as part of his long-term personal and professional goals.
