Jay Nambi, MS, C-CISO, CISSP, CISA, managing director of cybersecurity at Ernst & Young, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in cybersecurity.
Across the past 25 years, Mr. Nambi has crafted an esteemed role for himself as a leader in the field of digital security. Since 2021, he has served as the managing director of cybersecurity at Ernst & Young, where he works with a wide range of clients on implementing stronger online safety processes. Before that, Mr. Nambi held several roles with MetLife, joining the company in 2014 as the chief of staff and head of global enterprise architecture, strategy and governance. Later he was promoted to global head of technology asset management, compliance and configuration management, head of business planning, and global information risk and security chief of staff to the chief information security officer.
Mr. Nambi’s early career involved working key online security positions at The PNC Financial Services Group Inc., RBC Bank and Ally Financial Inc. He contributed as a senior security architect at Capgemini and the United States National Science Foundation. Mr. Nambi gained experience in software development while working as a senior developer and quality assurance analyst at Merck and Tata Consultancy Services. For several years starting in 2000, he also offered his insight as a software developer, researcher and instructor at Kansas State University.
Every step of Mr. Nambi’s path has led to his current success, beginning with his education. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in physics and electronics instrumentation at the University of Mumbai in 1997, followed by a Master of Science in computer science from the same institution in 2000. Subsequently, Mr. Nambi earned a second Master of Science in computer science from Kansas State University in 2002. Committed to lifelong learning, he has bolstered his credentials with numerous certifications. Most notably, Mr. Nambi is certified as a chief information security officer (CISO), a data privacy solutions engineer and an information systems security professional. He has completed courses in cybersecurity technology, application and policy through the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and in project management, process improvement and quality control through Pivotal Resources.
In addition to his many certifications, Mr. Nambi has showcased his dedication to his field through membership in several relevant groups. He is a current member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the Association for Computing Machinery and The Open Group. In 2021, Mr. Nambi published the article “Preparing the Next Generation Security Professional” in the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) Journal. He prides himself on being on the cutting edge of new technology and standards and believes that has been a key to his success.
Further proving his leadership through civic advocacy, Mr. Nambi served as a board member for Community Workforce Solutions, a nonprofit in North Carolina, for several years. He volunteered with Habitat for Humanity International in 2015 and is also associated with Toastmasters International. In 2023, Mr. Nambi was admitted to the Certified CISO Hall of Fame by the International Council of E-Commerce Consultants (EC-Council).
Beyond his professional life, Mr. Nambi is a devoted husband and father to two sons. His favorite pastime outside of work is cooking for his family. When considering the future of his career, Mr. Nambi’s primary goal is to make a positive impact on both his industry and the world at large. He hopes to leave an example that others who are entering the field of cybersecurity can emulate.
