Brent M. Dingle, PhD, systems architect and consultant at RTX, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in information technology (IT).

With nearly two decades of experience, Mr. Dingle has built a successful career in IT, specializing in advanced visualization, computer graphics, computer science, and perception and reality capture. He currently serves as systems architect and consultant for RTX Corporation, formerly Raytheon Technologies Corporation, a role he has held since 2019, and as senior operations engineer II since 2018. In these roles, he works at an immersive design center aimed at enhancing collaboration across business units, including engineers, operations, and manufacturing, while also conducting research. His previous experience includes serving as senior software engineer II at Raytheon from 2016 to 2018, assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin-Stout from 2013 to 2016, software developer at Kihon from 2012 to 2013, senior systems engineer II at Raytheon Technologies Corporation from 2007 to 2012, lecturer at Texas A&M University from 2001 to 2003, and software developer at Customer Development Corporation from 1995 to 1997. In light of his impressive undertakings, he received technical honors from Raytheon Intelligence & Space in both 2019 and 2020, the Excellence in Engineering Award from Raytheon Missile Systems in 2018, and the Program Excellence Award from Aviation Week Magazine in 2017.

Reflecting on his path, Mr. Dingle laid a solid educational foundation, earning a bachelor’s degree in computer science and mathematics from Bradley University in 1995, followed by a master’s degree in mathematics from Texas A&M University in 1999, and a PhD in computer science from Texas A&M University in 2007. His journey into computer science was sparked by a childhood fascination with video games, where the captivating visuals piqued his curiosity and led him to explore the technology behind them. As he pursued his undergraduate and graduate studies, his interest in graphics deepened, particularly enjoying the visual aspects of computing. With a strong grounding in science and mathematics, his focus shifted toward advanced visualization techniques, where he could apply his expertise to create compelling, informative visual representations of complex data. He takes great pride in a pivotal achievement in 2007 when he re-architected a generic simulation framework for missile systems while working at Raytheon. Later, he worked on a major project involving immersive design centers, where he successfully integrated stereoscopic displays into large visualization systems. Over the course of three years, he streamlined this complex system, which originally required multiple computers, into a more efficient single-computer setup that met Raytheon’s stringent security standards, marking a substantial and lasting contribution to the company.

Dr. Dingle attributes his success to his strong work ethic, the support of wonderful friends, and what he describes as “a dash of good fortune,” both positive and negative. He believes that overcoming difficult times has been crucial in propelling him forward. In the coming years, he is passionate about continuing to mentor college students, including the possibility of revitalizing internship programs and collaborating with young talent at Raytheon. He remains open to the idea of returning to academia, potentially focusing on game design or multimedia. In advising aspiring professionals, he emphasizes the importance of staying current in the rapidly evolving field of computer science. He stresses the need to continually update one’s knowledge by reading research papers and engaging in discussions with colleagues to stay informed about the latest advancements.
