His prior experience includes senior vice president at NowVertical Group from 2022 to 2024, president at Resonant Analytics from 2011 to 2024, relationship manager at Adobe Systems from 2004 to 2011, and senior vice president of client solutions at G2knowledge Consulting from 2000 to 2011. He also served as director at Neuristics Inc. from 1996 to 2000, post-doctoral research fellow at the Naval Research Lab with the National Research Council in 1994, chemistry instructor at Berwick Academy from 1993 to 1994, teaching assistant at the University of New Hampshire from 1989 to 1993, and assistant to the president at M&N Enterprises Inc. from 1986 to 1991.
Mr. Barrett has dedicated his time as chair of the physical chemical division lectures department in the chemistry department at the University of New Hampshire from 1990 to 1993, presented at numerous conferences, and contributed articles to professional journals. Additionally, he has served on his homeowners’ association board, was president of a country club, and is a member of Phi Sigma Epsilon, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Physical Society, and the American Chemical Society. Reflecting on his path, he laid a solid educational foundation, earning a Bachelor of Science in chemistry and economics from Eastern Michigan University in 1985, followed by a PhD in computational chemistry from the University of New Hampshire in 1993. During his graduate studies, he initially aimed to become a research scientist and university faculty member. However, as he delved deeper into his research, he noticed the growing importance of computational finance and predictive modeling within the finance industry. During his postdoctoral fellowship, Carnegie Mellon University established the first computational finance degree program, signaling a significant shift in the industry. Recognizing the potential of this development, he decided to pivot from a traditional academic career and embrace the emerging field of computational finance. He joined a startup that applied AI and neural networks to predict credit risk, marking the beginning of his journey into consulting and data analytics.
Mr. Barrett takes great pride in founding his company, managing and running it for 12 years, and ultimately having it acquired by a publicly traded company. He attributes his success to his proficiency in applying advanced mathematical tools to understand human behavior, a skill that has set him apart in the consulting industry. Additionally, his ability to translate complex technical jargon into accessible business language has been instrumental in helping managers, marketers, and sales teams incorporate data-driven insights into their business planning and execution. He also emphasizes the critical role of identifying and nurturing talent.
