Mark D. Lechowicz, wealth advisor at Exemplar Financial Network LLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in financial services.
With two decades of experience in financial services, Mr. Lechowicz specializes in working with high-net-worth business owners and corporate executives. He currently serves as a wealth advisor at Exemplar Financial Network LLC, a position he has held since 2018, where he manages all aspects of clients’ financial lives, including investments, insurance, estate planning, tax planning, and lending, through face-to-face interactions. His prior roles include financial advisor at Exemplar Financial Network LLC from 2010 to 2018, financial advisor as a self-employed professional from 2007 to 2010, and financial advisor at Ameriprise Financial from 2005 to 2007.
Mr. Lechowicz also worked as an account executive at Wilmington Finance from 2002 to 2003, loan officer at Fisher Mortgage from 1997 to 1998, and in sales at Bally Total Fitness from 1996 to 1998. He is involved with the Illinois Chamber of Commerce and the Investments & Wealth Institute and serves as a board member in Huntley. In light of his impressive undertakings, he was honored with the Star Wealth Advisor of the Year Award.
Reflecting on his path, Mr. Lechowicz laid a solid educational foundation, earning an associate degree in business from McHenry County College in 1994 and completing coursework with the Investments & Wealth Institute. He has always been driven by a competitive nature, which initially led him into the mortgage industry. However, his transition to financial planning was influenced by a deeper desire to make a meaningful impact on people’s lives through financial guidance. Having witnessed firsthand how his father, a factory worker, received inadequate and sometimes misleading financial advice from colleagues and HR staff, he recognized the need for reliable, accessible financial planning. At that time, there was a widespread belief that substantial investment capital was necessary to access quality financial advice, a notion that he sought to challenge.
Looking to the future, Mr. Lechowicz is focused on expanding his practice. Currently, he collaborates with a larger organization, relying on their back-office support and staffing. However, he is now considering the possibility of bringing on a junior advisor to help manage his growing book of business. Additionally, he is contemplating involving his wife in the business to better align their schedules and is also exploring the idea of bringing on a family member, such as his nephew, who has an accounting background and is interested in the financial services field. He is excited about the potential for growth and aims to deepen his expertise in serving business owners and C-suite clients.
Retirement is not on the horizon for Mr. Lechowicz, as he envisions further expansion and development in his areas of focus. In advising aspiring professionals, he emphasizes that the financial services field is challenging. He highlights the significance of financial advisors being among the most important people in their clients’ lives, outside of family, and stresses the responsibility that comes with that trust. He also underscores being prepared, doing the work, and being able to answer the critical question: “Why should someone work with you when you’re new to the industry?”
