After beginning her professional life as a bartender, Ms. Decker was drawn to the nonprofit world following a challenging life experience. While dealing with a family member’s illness, various nonprofit groups provided her with crucially important support. Ms. Decker began her path toward an executive career as an intern for the Helena Brewers Baseball Club in 2010. In 2012, she joined Microsoft as a sales associate and learning specialist, forging a connection that would persist for more than 10 years.
In 2018, Ms. Decker stepped into her current position as an account executive for Microsoft Philanthropies’ Tech for Social Impact group. In this role, she manages Microsoft’s relationship with multiple nonprofit organizations. Ms. Decker collaborates with over 60 different nonprofits in the United States and Canada. She facilitates access to Microsoft technology for these groups, helping them to reduce costs, streamline operations and achieve goals. Concurrently with this, Ms. Decker has provided guidance as a coach and mentor for UpskillingND. Since 2021, she has served as the operations co-lead for the Fargo chapter of Women at Microsoft.
Throughout her career, Ms. Decker has established herself as a talented and dependable advocate for the organizations she works with. She teamed up with one Canadian nonprofit to help them use Microsoft technology to develop a virtual reality experience to encourage donors. Through projects like this, Ms. Decker has demonstrated the power of Microsoft’s cutting-edge tools and nurtured long-term relationships with customers who have been greatly aided by her access. She prioritizes listening to client feedback, swiftly addressing concerns and doing whatever she can to make a meaningful impact.
Ms. Decker’s performance in the field has been bolstered by her academic foundation. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in communications and public relations with concentrations in marketing and journalism from Carroll College in 2010. Ms. Decker points to her communications classes in particular as a source of lessons she has returned to regularly. She relies on strong organizational and interpersonal communication in her work with various stakeholders.
Noted for her achievements in the field, Ms. Decker has received significant accolades. In 2023, she joined her team and the president of Microsoft Canada in accepting an award for making an impact on Canadian communities. In addition to her education, Ms. Decker attributes her success to her contagious passion, energy and ability to inspire others.
Outside of her primary vocation, Ms. Decker devotes her time and energy to her husband, three children and one grandchild. She enjoys camping, ice fishing, watching movies, playing video games, and participating in her children’s sports events. Looking to the future, Ms. Decker aspires to buy land in Montana and build her dream house, where she can grow her own food. She also plans to launch her own podcast, allowing her to explore ideas and talk to people with an eye toward creative fulfillment rather than making money. Ms. Decker has started the process of writing her first book and hopes to create something that will inspire and empower readers through her unique insight.
