Rev. Larry Abbott Golemon, PhD, executive director at the Washington Theological Consortium, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in religious and spiritual services.
A leading authority in religious and spiritual services, Dr. Golemon has been the executive director at the Washington Theological Consortium in Washington, D.C., since 2011. Among a myriad of responsibilities, he is tasked with directing educational services throughout 10 theological schools in the Mid-Atlantic region, including Catholic, mainline Protestant, Evangelical and historic black divinity schools, and five institutes in Jewish, Islamic, spirituality and biblical studies. Besides his work at the consortium, Dr. Golemon has succeeded as the transitional director for the Reformed Institute of Metropolitan Washington in Washington, D.C., since 2019.
Dr. Golemon’s history in the industry included his roles as an instructor at the Virginia Theological Seminary, researcher and author at the Alban at Duke Divinity School, instructor and researcher at the Dominican University of California, Doctor of Ministry instructor at the San Francisco Theological Seminary, and research consultant for the Carnegie Foundation, dating back to 2001. His tenured career has significantly influenced the shaping and history of theological education and molding the education of religious leaders in the U.S.
In preparation for his career, Dr. Golemon received a Bachelor of Arts in history in renaissance reformation history from Stanford University in 1980, a Master of Divinity in general divinity and historical theology from Yale Divinity School in 1985, a Master of Theology from Columbia Theological Seminary in 1993 and a Doctor of Philosophy in theology and critical theory from Emory University in 1998. Apart from his extensive education, he has been active as a member of the American Academy of Religion, has contributed articles to leading publications and has authored several books, including “Clergy Education in America: Religious Leadership and American Public Life (Religion in America Series)” in 2021 via Oxford University Press. In the coming years, Dr. Golemon plans to establish additional physical educational locations to better serve students’ needs while progressing as a writer.
