In this role, he collaborates with clients and colleagues to analyze their portfolios, clarifying the cross-benefit impacts of potential trades. He also assists in designing risk transfer programs and executing transactions on behalf of his clients. Laying an educational foundation, he earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and finance from the University of Rochester in 2007. Beyond his professional endeavors, he is an active volunteer and donor, contributing to various charitable organizations.
Reflecting on his path, Mr. Widowski initially pursued a career in investment banking; however, his older sister, an underwriter at an insurance company, encouraged him to explore a career in reinsurance brokerage. She introduced him to the Benfield Group, known for its robust training programs for young professionals, which ultimately shaped his career path. He takes great pride in his 17 years of dedicated service to a single organization, where he has also mentored numerous younger professionals and contributed to the company’s success. He appreciates that no two days are ever identical in his role and values the opportunity to engage with remarkable individuals. He notes that what sets him apart is his strong affinity for mathematics, numbers and analytics, as well as the importance he places on interpersonal communication, which also allows him to explore the merits of various deals and to interact with colleagues in a more social context.
Additionally, Mr. Widowski continuously tries to push himself outside his comfort zone, as he believes that if he is not feeling uncomfortable and not trying to learn, he is not really doing his job. He also considers himself an outside-the-box thinker, as he is willing to take calculated risks where others might have hesitated, often uncovering opportunities that others overlooked. His approach to work is defined by a people-first philosophy, as he prioritizes building strong relationships and ensuring that all stakeholders are satisfied with the outcome of a deal. For him, success comes not only from executing deals effectively but also from knowing he has given his absolute best effort.
Mr. Widowski attributes his success to the exceptional leadership and mentorship he has received throughout his career. He believes his dedication to hard work has been a cornerstone of his achievements and a driving force behind his continued success.
