Ms. Strickland is lauded for her work at the intersection of law and federal government as the acting director of the employment adjudication division with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Office of the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights, in Los Angeles, since 2024. As such, she is responsible for monitoring staff leave and office coverage, executing personnel management responsibilities with the roles and duties of the director of the division, engaging with staff members for quarterly reviews, performance and teambuilding sessions, and, among other tasks, communicating with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) compliance officer.
Affiliated with the USDA since 2013, Ms. Strickland rose from a special assistant to the associate assistant secretary for civil rights, equal opportunity specialist, acting director of the employment adjudication division, and team lead. She also worked for the USDA as a special assistant to the assistant secretary for civil rights from 2009 to 2010. Ms. Strickland spent her earlier years focused on law as a legislative assistant with the Council of the District of Columbia and as a law clerk and business development analyst at Sidney Strickland & Associates PLLC.
Ms. Strickland holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of the District of Columbia. She is also a Lean Six Sigma certified white belt and has been designated in basic counselor training through the EEOC. She credits much of her professional achievements to her determination, a characteristic she learned as a competitive tennis player who ranked in the top 100 nationally. In preparation for her future, Ms. Strickland intends to expand her capabilities either in the private or public sector.
