Mr. Reid has been a leader in education for many years, culminating in his role as the chief operating officer, curriculum director and learning analyst at the Pacific Charter Institute in Sacramento, California, until his retirement in 2023. Today, he remains the board president for the Doc Smith Legacy Foundation, an educational organization headquartered in Sacramento, California, that assists students and community members with endeavors to advance their job opportunities and scholarships. Since retiring, Mr. Reid has also served in the same capacity for the Highlands Community Charter and Technical Schools in Sacramento after previously serving as a consultant for the school system. His school governance and financial oversight expertise have been pivotal to his success in these roles.

Leveraging over 35 years of expertise as a former educator, Mr. Reid has spent years in the classroom as a teacher and in administrative positions as a vice principal, principal and school superintendent. In his board positions, he fosters partnerships with other leaders and politicians to support the school’s mission at Doc Smith Legacy Foundation. Continually progressing, Mr. Reid became a principal at Lone Tree Elementary School and Wheatland Elementary School, the vice president at EdisonLearning in its Hawaii alliance division, and the school superintendent for the Klamath-Trinity Joint Unified School District in Humboldt, California.

Throughout his tenure in education, Mr. Reid was instrumental in the charter school space for nearly a decade, including overseeing a new charter school program at Wheatland Charter Academy. Under his leadership, Wheatland Charter Academy and Lone Tree Elementary School were recognized among the three schools named California State Distinguished Schools. This significant accomplishment was due in part to his dedicated faculty. Mr. Reid also had the chance to work as a consultant for the Hawaii Department of Education for several years, where he was instrumental in school academic improvement. Moreover, he was influential in school reform initiatives under the No Child Left Behind Act.

Highly educated, Mr. Reid received a Bachelor of Arts in liberal studies from Master’s College (now Master’s University) and a master’s degree in educational administration from National University. Civically, he has served as an exalted ruler and president of his local Elks lodge and was recently elected to the county school board. Additionally, Mr. Reid frequently engages in local initiatives, such as the annual veterans and first responders breakfast through the Elks, and as a little league sports coach.

Mr. Reid attributes his success to having great mentors. These influential role models included his sixth-grade teacher and his mother, whose career was as a teacher and librarian.
