As head of equity and debt capital markets, he played a key role in XP’s IPO on Nasdaq in 2019 and later served as chief financial officer. Following the conclusion of a shareholders’ agreement with Itaú BBA, he led efforts to strengthen corporate governance, establishing distinct board and executive roles. Now serving as a board member, he contributes to forming new committees and recruiting independent members.
Mr. Santos takes great pride in his role as the lead analyst and negotiator for two private equity investments in the energy sector during his time at BTG Pactual. The first investment involved a company in the Brazilian state of Maranhão, which experienced significant growth, resulting in a remarkable thirtyfold return in four years. The second investment was in the energy distributor Light in Rio de Janeiro, which also yielded significant returns within a short period. Additionally, he oversaw the successful IPO project at XP, which was executed in record time, raising over $1 billion and achieving a secondary offer. He attributes his success to his resilience. In advising aspiring professionals, he emphasizes that nothing worth achieving comes easily, but one can overcome any challenge with resilience. Looking to the future, he envisions himself making a meaningful contribution to the United States, potentially in a leadership or investment capacity.
