Michael T. Gleason, Sheriff at Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in law enforcement.

With over three decades of experience, Mr. Gleason has established a distinguished career in law enforcement. He currently serves as sheriff of the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, a role he has held since 2021, where he oversees operations for the county’s 750,000 residents across 11,000 square miles, including managing the county jail. He is also principal and co-owner of Gold Star Transportation since 2017 and principal and founder of FOCUS Security Consultants since 2010. His was also assistant chief deputy for Williamson County from 2016 to 2017, captain of patrol services from 2011 to 2016, and lieutenant in various roles, including headquarters administration, patrol services, west and east commands, and internal affairs from 2002 to 2008. Prior this, he was a sergeant and corporal in patrol services from 1998 to 2002, a deputy in patrol services from 1995 to 1998, and began his career as a corrections officer from 1993 to 1995. Additionally, he is an active member of the board of trustees for Bluebonnet Trails Community Services since 2022 and serves on the board of directors for the Williamson County Children’s Advocacy Center and the Major County Sheriffs of America.

Mr. Gleason completed coursework at the FBI National Academy Associates, University of Virginia, and earned a Bachelor of Science in occupational education with a focus on criminal justice from Texas State University in 2004. He went on to complete a Master of Business Administration at Charter University in 2016. His certifications include a secret security clearance from the U.S. Department of State, SWAT commander certification from the National Tactical Officers Association, master peace officer license from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement, advanced accident investigation and reconstruction certification from Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service, and a firearms training instructor certification and mental health officer certification from TCOLE.

Throughout his career, Mr. Gleason’s most notable achievement as sheriff was transforming a disorganized office marked by instability, including 275 terminations under his predecessor. He addressed employee concerns by implementing civil service protections to ensure job security. He also initiated the award-winning “Jail-Based Competency Restoration” program, reducing the time for mentally ill individuals deemed incompetent to stand trial from years to just 44 days, saving millions and expediting legal proceedings. In light of his undertakings, he was honored with the Texas Association of Counties Best Practices Award, Outstanding First Responders Award from The 100 Club of Central Texas, a Health and Human Services Grant, and a Certificate of Commendation from Congressman John Cornyn. Looking to the future, he is committed to continue serving as the sheriff of Williamson Counts.
