Donna F. Gibson, executive director of the Friends of Flight 93 National Memorial, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in nonprofit organization.

With over three decades of experience, Ms. Gibson has established a successful career in nonprofit organizations, specializing in environmental stewardship, tourism promotion, and fundraising. She currently serves as executive director of the Friends of Flight 93 National Memorial and co-owner and sales consultant at Hollern Insurance, roles she has held since 2022. The Friends of Flight 93 National Memorial supports the preservation, education, and stewardship of the Flight 93 National Memorial, honoring the 40 passengers and crew who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. Her responsibilities include overseeing daily operations, including finance, communications, and marketing while focusing on environmental stewardship, community engagement, and fundraising for the memorial. Her previous experience includes vice president and market manager at First National Bank from 2012 to 2022, vice president of district sales at Huntington National Bank from 2007 to 2012, and senior vice president of sales at Sky Bank from 2002 to 2007. She laid a strong educational foundation with coursework at the University of Pittsburgh, certifications in HR management from Cornell University, and licenses from the Pennsylvania Insurance Department.

Reflecting on her path, Ms. Gibson’s connection to Flight 93 began after she and her husband relocated to a home six miles from the September 11th memorial site, inspiring her involvement in environmental projects. She became a dedicated volunteer and ambassador, receiving training to engage visitors and share the history of the 40 passengers and crew members of Flight 93. In light of her impressive undertakings, she was honored as Outstanding Person of the Year by the Somerset County Chamber in 2024, received the Northeast Region of the National Park Service Excellence in Education Award, and was presented with the Athena Award by the Cambria County Chamber in 1999. She attributes her success to her unwavering determination and passion, believing that her enthusiasm shines through in all her interactions. Looking to the future, her ultimate goal is to advocate for the inclusion of September 11th education in the curriculum of all 50 states, addressing the gap, as currently only 15 states require it.
