Joseph D. Giurleo Jr., president of Bay State Wiring Company Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in electrical contracting.
With over four and a half decades of experience, Mr. Giurleo has established a distinguished career in electrical contracting, specializing in fire alarm systems and lighting controls. He currently serves as president of Bay State Wiring Company Inc., a role he has held since 2004. The company, founded by his father in 1960, has evolved over the decades, adapting to various markets. In the 1970s and 1980s, Bay State Wiring focused on wiring condominium buildings, transitioning to houses and schools in later years. Since the 2000s, the company has concentrated on government and military projects, including park developments and military base installations.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Giurleo has been actively involved in civic activities, including contributing to local charities, teaching at trade school and coaching youth sports. Additionally, he has taken on the role of reunion coordinator for his high school, demonstrating his commitment to engaging with his community and bringing people together. He has been an active member of the Associated Subcontractors of Massachusetts since 2013 and the National Fire Protection Association. He laid a strong educational foundation with a Bachelor of Arts in liberal arts and sciences at Suffolk University in 1980 and an associate’s degree in electrical engineering from Northeastern University in 1988. He holds numerous professional certifications, including as a licensed master electrician in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont, a certified lighting controls professional through NALMCO, a Level IV Fire Alarm certification from the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET), and a security contractor “S” license from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Division of Professional Licensure.
Reflecting on his path, Mr. Giurleo finds inspiration in the legacy of his father, who trained him as an apprentice electrician during his youth and successfully managed Bay State Wiring for 22 years after losing his eyesight. This led to him taking over the business at a young age and continuing to build on that legacy. He attributes his success to his education and efforts to distinguish himself through expertise and relationship-building. Looking to the future, he is preparing his son to take over the business, ensuring a collaborative work environment for hands-on experience. His daughter also plays a key role as an office manager and bookkeeper, contributing to the company’s operations. In the long term, he looks forward to retirement and watching his children excel in leading the family business.
