With nearly three decades of experience, Mr. Heusser has established a successful career in software development. He currently serves as the owner of Excelon Cleaning, managing director of Excelon Development since 2004, and consultant and podcast host with Qualitest Group since 2016. His prior roles include editor-in-chief at Software Quality Engineering from 2013 to 2016, contributing editor at STPCollaborative from 2008 to 2013, and member of the technical staff at Socialtext from 2008 to 2011. He also worked as a part-time instructor at Calvin College from 2008 to 2010, project manager and software developer at Priority Health from 2003 to 2008, and software developer at McGraw-Hill, now 2020 Technologies, from 2000 to 2003. Earlier in his career, he served as a programmer and analyst at The Title Office and PCR and in the U.S. Army Reserve. Laying an educational foundation, he earned a Bachelor of Science in mathematics with a concentration in computer science from Salisbury University, earned in 1997, and a Master of Science in computer information systems from Grand Valley State University in 2004.
Mr. Heusser has contributed to the field as the lead author of “Software Testing Strategies: A Testing Guide for the 2020s” and lead editor of “How to Reduce the Cost of Software Testing.” He also dedicates his time as a substitute teacher and playground monitor and holds active memberships with the American Legion South Haven, Allegan Eagles, and Knights of Columbus. He is also a life member and former board member of the Association for Software Testing. In light of his impressive undertakings, he has been recognized as Most Popular Online Contributor by The Agile Awards in 2015 and Most Influential Agile Test Professional Person by Agile Testing Days in 2014. He attributes his success to the values instilled by his father, a senior executive service member, who emphasized hard work and perseverance. Looking to the future, he envisions shifting from individual achievements to global engagement, focusing on the growth and maturation of his investment business.
