With nearly four decades of experience, Mr. Rajendra has established a distinguished career in civil engineering, specializing in transportation engineering and planning. He currently serves as a senior project manager at Mark Thomas Co., a role he has held since 2023. Previously, he had an extensive tenure at Caltrans, where he held various leadership roles, including deputy division chief and principal transportation engineer from 2013 to 2023, deputy district director in 2020, chief of the division of engineering services in 2018, and chief of the north region division of project development in 2015. Earlier in his career, he served as senior transportation engineer from 1998 to 2000 and associate transportation engineer from 1988 to 1997.

Mr. Rajendra laid a strong educational foundation with a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from California State University, Chico in 1987, a Master of Science in civil engineering from California State University, Sacramento in 1994, and became a licensed professional civil engineer through the California Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists in 1991. Additionally, he has been a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers since 1983, where he also served as president of the Capital Branch. He is active in Toastmasters International, serves as a mentor to young engineering students, and volunteers as a judge for various programs. He has also participated in fundraising efforts for local communities in Sri Lanka and volunteered with international medical organizations.

Reflecting on his path, Mr. Rajendra takes pride in his contributions to significant infrastructure projects, including the $1 billion Gerald Hessman Bridge in Long Beach Harbor. Among his most impactful achievements is the State Route 65 Lincoln Bypass, a $350 million project involved in constructing the longest new highway in California. In light of his impressive undertakings, he was honored with the Engineering Manager Award from Caltrans. He attributes his success to a combination of hard work and a focus on building strong relationships. Looking to the future, he aspires to become a vice president at an engineering firm, as well as help companies grow, enhance their services, and improve efficiency to better meet customer needs.
