William “Bill” F. Mann, CFA, CPA, managing partner at HarmoniQ Insights, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in investment analysis.
With over two and a half decades of experience, Mr. Mann has built a distinguished career in investment analysis, specializing in fundamental and quantitative research. Since 2024, he has served as managing partner at HarmoninQ Insights and advisor at Quanted, where he provides advisory services to investment managers, buy-side investors, and fintech and data startups, while also publishing his own quantitative research. His previous roles include senior vice president at Two Sigma from 2016 to 2023, risk controller at AQR Capital Management from 2013 to 2016, portfolio credit analyst at Bloomberg LP from 2009 to 2013, vice president at AIG Financial Products from 2006 to 2009, director at Fitch Ratings from 2004 to 2006, M&A services professional at Deloitte from 2002 to 2004, and auditor at Arthur Andersen from 1998 to 2002. Laying an educational foundation, he earned a Bachelor of Science from Tulane University Freeman School of Business in 1998 and holds certifications as a chartered financial analyst from the CFA Institute and a certified public accountant in New York State. He is a member of the CFA Institute, the United States Tennis Association, and a local tennis club, and volunteers as a coach for a Challenger Little League team.
Reflecting on his path, Mr. Mann credits his success to effective communication, a skill he honed during his time at Tulane University, particularly in a business writing class that emphasized clear and impactful communication. In his professional roles, he has acted as a translator, bridging the technical language of statistics and computational finance with practical applications in product management for software and information technology. Additionally, his most notable achievement is his rise to an executive leadership role at Two Sigma, where he succeeded in a field traditionally dominated by formally trained quantitative researchers. Despite lacking a conventional academic background in mathematics or economics, he developed expertise through on-the-job training and mentorship from experienced professionals, ultimately becoming a quantitative researcher and leader. Looking to the future, he envisions significant growth in his portfolio, focusing on expanding partnerships with startup financial technology and data companies. He aims to attract diverse advisory clients from the hedge fund space to support these startups and drive innovation within the buy-side investment sector.
