Dr. Gantz’s career in information technology (IT) over the past 30 years has culminated in his role as the chief cybersecurity architect and vice president of iVision Consulting in Washington, D.C., since 2023, where he leverages his distinguished tenure in the industry to provide subject matter expertise to commercial businesses and startups. As a member of the firm’s executive management team, he also focuses on operational aspects of the company while guiding strategic growth. Dr. Gantz’s cybersecurity and cloud computing expertise has been instrumental in his continued success.

Besides his role at iVision Consulting, Dr. Gantz has taught cloud computing classes as an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland University College since 2005. His tenure on campus has given him great pride, as his contributions have paved the way for many students in their career journeys. In addition to his work at the University of Maryland University College, Dr. Gantz earned experience as an adjunct professor at The Catholic University of America in the school of library and information science between 2013 and 2014, teaching courses in areas such as health policy, health project management, and security and privacy in health data exchange.

Dr. Gantz’s career in information technology began at Cisco at age 22. He then joined The Exeter Group as a consultant before acquiring positions as an IT architect with Software AG USA, senior architect with Roundarch, and director of security and privacy at Vangetn Inc. Continually progressing, he became a chief security officer at Evolvent, developing and implementing security-related services and solutions provided to defense and civilian agencies from 2010 to 2011. Subsequently, Dr. Gantz became the chief security and privacy officer at Cognosante between 2011 and 2022 and the director of cybersecurity operations and engineering at MBL Technologies Inc. from 2022 to 2023. His tenure at Cognosante was marked by his role in establishing and enhancing the infrastructure, which included developing robust supporting systems and promoting essential services.

Possessing a rich and impressive educational background, Dr. Gantz studied at the prestigious Harvard University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in applied mathematics, statistics and history in 1990, followed by a master’s degree in public policy focused on technology in 1998. He later attended the University of Maryland Global Campus, receiving a doctorate in management focused on organizational behavior in 2012.

In addition to his degrees, Dr. Gantz received numerous professional credentials, making him highly qualified in his industry. He holds certifications as a Google Cloud digital leader through Google, OCI security certified associate through Oracle, certified cloud practitioner through Amazon Web Services Inc., and Azure security engineer associate through Microsoft. Dr. Gantz also holds numerous other designations from organizations like the Information Systems Audit and Control Association, the International Information System Security Certification Consortium and the International Association of Privacy Professionals.

When he is not busy with work-related obligations, Dr. Gantz enjoys giving back his time to local and national causes, such as No Kid Hungry. He also volunteers and donates to a nearby food pantry.

Recognized for his hard work and dedication, Dr. Gantz notably secured a U.S. patent for a system for presenting and managing enterprise architectures in 2002. He also contributed articles to Syngress in his area of expertise. Dr. Gantz believes his passion for learning has been key to his success. His experience as an educator has further fueled his motivation and growth. As he prepares for the future, he anticipates significant changes requiring him to adapt. He also intends to focus more on teaching, research and writing books.
