Oleksii Bolduma, vice president of operations at 51st State Construction, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in construction.
With nearly a decade of experience, Mr. Bolduma has built a successful career in construction, specializing in structural concrete and home building. Since 2017, he has served as vice president of operations at 51st State Construction, where he oversees company operations and ensures project success. His responsibilities include aligning subcontractors, managing invoices and payments, supervising job sites alongside superintendents, visiting each site twice weekly, and handling materials, orders, customer relations, bidding, and new projects. He also dedicates his time to community service, contributing to charitable initiatives for schools, first responders, and other causes. Laying a strong educational foundation, he earned an associate degree in business development and a Bachelor of Applied Science in biomedical equipment engineering from the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy in 2009.
Reflecting on his path, Mr. Bolduma began his construction career at the age of 13 in Ukraine, using summer breaks to mix concrete, transport bridge blocks, and perform various construction tasks to earn additional income. By 15, he was working alongside his father to build their family home, completing the project just before moving to the United States in 2008 with only $300 in his pocket. Settling in Delaware, he worked in construction by day and in a restaurant by night for seven years, building a foundation for his future success. Between 2009 and 2010, he contributed to the redevelopment of downtown Virginia before relocating to Florida in 2015. There, he joined a leading concrete company and, after two years, decided to pursue his dream of owning his own business. With determination, he obtained the necessary licenses and launched his company, specializing in structural concrete to ensure building integrity and safety. He takes great pride in is his journey from arriving in the U.S. with nothing to building a thriving business generating approximately three million dollars in annual revenue. He attributes his success to two key figures in his life – his mother, who encouraged him to learn English during his youth in Ukraine, and his wife, who has been a steadfast source of support through all challenges and successes.
In the coming years, Mr. Bolduma aims to establish a trade school designed for individuals who are unable to secure student loans or lack the financial resources for higher education. Recognizing the prohibitive costs associated with traditional educational pathways, he envisions a trade institution where local contractors can sponsor students. This program would allow for customized training and education tailored to the specific needs of the sponsoring companies. Upon completing the trade school program, students would be prepared to enter into employment contracts with the contractors who supported their education, facilitating a direct transition into the workforce. In advising aspiring professionals he emphasizes that it is not all about the money. It is about work-life balance. He also says, “Don’t chase a dollar,” and never forget that there is something outside of work. Outside of his professional responsibilities, he enjoys fishing, boating, and target practice, as well as spending time with his family.
